Is He holding you or are you holding Him?

Now that I’ve got your attention…

If you’re looking for Kay David, the romance writer, you’re in the right place so don’t leave.

As you can see, however, I’ve changed the direction of my writing. Kinda. In some ways, I’m still doing the same thing but to clarify any confusion, I’ll explain.

In my romances, my hero and heroine always live a pretty straight and narrow life; the books were always about one man and one woman, committed to each other and committed to the idea of an exclusive relationship. They were generally involved in something dangerous and scary(other than being in love) and in the end, they solved the mystery and found each other.

Now I’m going to write about suspense and faith. Once again, my characters will be stuck in the middle of something dangerous and scary but in the end, they will solve the mystery and find…their faith. They may find romance, too, but maybe not.
Why the change? I’ve wanted to write LIGHT FOR DARKNESS for years so for me, it’s not a change—it’s the direction I’ve been heading all along. I’m thrilled to see interest in this genre growing and in awe of some of the terrific writers who are already in place. Vicki Hinze, Kristen Heitzman, Melanie Wells to name a few. Ted Dekker and Robert Liparulo, as well.

Someone whose opinion I respect and admire once told me that one of the best faith-based books he’s ever read is John Grisham’s THE FIRM. The main character can do the wrong thing and have the world at his feet, or he can do the right thing and lose all he cares about, including his life. If this book had been published and/or marketed differently, we, the readers, might say the protagonist made the right choice because he’s a man of faith.
Like a lot of things, it’s a matter of perspective.

On another note, God Bless Kate Duffy. My first editor and a woman who always surprised and delighted me, even when she had bad news. She’ll be missed.
